Am I Ready?

Dear Henry,

As of late in most of the conversations that take place I am asked this question more than any; “Are you ready?”. In short, I simply say “Yes”. But today I want to give you Henry, the reassurance and reasons why I believe I am ready to be a father.

Many people that I’ve talked to (that are around my age 21–35) have said before they are ready they want to buy their dream home, their dream job, financially stable, and travel the world before deciding to resign independence to take on this momentous responsibility of parenting. All reasonable, appropriate, and valid points that I respect as they are their own person to make those choices or decisions.

Although when hearing these points over and over again, I say to myself “Why can’t your children do those things with you?”. In my own opinion and circumstance, I want you and your future siblings to embark on those dreams with us. Your mom wants to own a childcare facility, while I want to start a home inspection business. All things we want our children to engage in and take part in. For a home, we want all of us to experience that process, learn, and be apart of the positive outcomes.

In addition to those reasons, right now in the present I believe that we are ready. Mama and I have jobs, a good home, a strong support system, and love that will help us be the best parents to you as possible. We have taken a couple of bonus courses with the hospital you’ll arrive in and took a virtual tour of what our suite will look like.
