Finding Your Person

Dear Henry,

Your mom and I concluded another week with a simple pizza while watching an episode of one our favorite shows. With mama going through her nighttime routine, I’m now just sitting on the couch and I had to write another note to you. The theme of today is: Finding your person.

Here is a beautiful quote from Candice Proctor from one of her books;

“I think perhaps love comes from finding someone you feel utterly comfortable with, someone who makes you comfortable with yourself. It’s like…finding yourself, or maybe it’s like finding the other part of yourself”.

Even though your mama and I have only known each other for less than a handful of years and really have been together for less than a year and three quarters, she has always made me feel like myself and someone I’m comfortable being around. When I lost my Grammy in 2020 I genuinely lost a piece of my heart. At the beginning of 2021, in a very different way my heart was full again and I found the other part of myself through your mama.

When finding love, it isn’t about attraction or how much money one makes or what other people think but it really is about the attributes of the person you want to be with and where you are in your present life that allows you to be open and vulnerable and to want to grow with someone.

Your mama is one of my best friends and for us to be by each other’s side especially now, I’m so grateful and thankful. Through the thick and thin. I’m excited to see how…
