Patience is a Way of Life

Dear Henry,

My theme for this week leading up to your birth is Patience. This skill of mine has been pushed to its limits as we are nearing your due date on the 10th. When patience is learned, it’s an attribute that will make your life more comfortable and lead a journey of success.

Patience for some is more natural and easier to have a grasp on. While for others it’s a skill that needs to be taught over and over again. I believe it’s easier to learn patience from the environment you surround yourself in. I’ll make sure that the life you have is filled with joy, happiness, and times for opportunity to grow as your own person.

This is a trait that will play such a vital role in your life during work, school, social, and personal times. Patience will provide flexibility and perspective with others. Patience will let you make more ethically meaningful choices and decisions. Patience will allow you to be more open, present, and to listen to others. Goals and dreams will be easier to think of and achieve with patience.

An important part of parenting that I’ve been thinking more and more about is how to teach patience. Children will look to their parents as role models, so I’ll make sure to always try my best to provide little bits of new ways, body language, and ideas on how to deal with situations. Overtime it should catch on and once you get to an age I hope to have conversations with you about patience.
