On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, in November of 1918 after nearly nine million dead, an armistice was signed. Germany and its partners were at its lowest point with men, fire power, and near a full invasion of its land, decided to sign an agreement to seize fighting.

A war that started due to an assassination of an heir in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, set forth a domino effect of declarations of war in Europe.

Germany who was fighting a two front war, held on for a long period but there was no substantial progress made by either the Germans or the Allied Forces. On the Eastern Front against Russia, they had more of an impact. Because Germany was battling on two fronts, they exhausted their chances of any significant strides.

Once the United States entered the war, it sparked the Allied Forces and provided a second wind for the Western Front. Germany had no other option but to sign an Armistice Agreement on this day 104 years ago.

In the summer of 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was signed which saw Germany as the sole nation that started the war and that grave economical sanctions were imposed. With this treaty, we saw the League of Nations unified and the…
